Holistic development is the social, emotional, physical, spiritual, mental, and intellectual growth of a person. Taking a holistic approach to education means focusing on all aspects of a child’s growth, not just their academic advancements. Most importantly, it’s about establishing the child’s overall wellbeing.
While in their classes the learners acquire intellectual, physical and social skills, we ensure that their spiritual, mental and emotional well being is taken care of as well. This is done not only for the learners but also for the teaching and non teaching staff.
The office of the chaplain ensures that through words, actions and relationships, the Gospel values are inculcated in the whole school community. To foster Spiritual growth, we have activities like, School Masses, reconciliation services, Retreats and Recollections and also teaching Catechism. Through Catechism the whole community learns faith, prayer, Sacraments and morals.For mental and emotional well being, we are able to journey with learners, staff, and non teaching staff by offering Spiritual guidance and where need arises, counselling services.
Here at Thomas Burke, we strive to live and exemplify the life of Christ that permiates the entire enterprise of our schools.
